I got word of Richard's death a week ago tomorrow and posted the wire copy
when I got home that night. Since that time I have spent many hours digging
for the facts in this death.  I still do not have all the information I
need to draw the entire picture of what happened on the bottom.  However I
assure you I will soon.  I have had a great deal of difficulty getting the
truth in this matter.  I seems that many people are unwilling to provide
the information they have.  But to clear up a few misconceptions I have
heard and seen in this matter I am posting what I hope will be the relevant
FACTS as I now know them.  I will follow this up as I get more information.  

Richard boarded the Seeker one week ago yesterday for a three day live
aboard to the Andrea Doria.  During a dive Wednesday the 8th, Richard
failed to return to the surface.  After approximately 24 hours of search
involving Jayhawk Helicopters as well as divers, Richard's lifeless remains
were recovered at a depth of 213' on Thursday the 9th.  Richard was face
down on the bottom in the companionway leading from the first class lounge.
 Richard had all gear in place and his stage bottles were stowed as if not
used during this dive.  Richard's primary regulator was in his mouth and
his octo was stowed.  There was no sign of struggle, panic or entanglement
at the scene.

The ME reported the COD as asphyxiation by drowning.  Richard did NOT have
a heart attack, stroke or aneurysm.  There was no other contributing cause
noted by the ME.

I will follow up as the last few remaining facts come in.  Until then I do
not wish to speculate as to what  happened to Richard Roost.  Please be
patent I expect to have the rest of the story by weeks end.
